In Part 1 of the Speaking test the examiner will ask you a few easy questions to find out more about you.
In Part 2 of the Speaking test you are given a task and have to talk with your partner to try to make a decision.
In Part 3 of the Speaking test you talk about a picture on your own for about 1 minute.
In Part 4 you have a discussion with your partner about the topic you were given in Part 3.
PET Listening

Time allowed - about 30 minutes
- Listening part 1: pictures with multiple choice questions
- Listening part 2: longer recording and multiple choice questions

Scoring
The Listening section is worth 25% of the total score for the exam.- Each of the 25 listening questions scores 1 mark.
How to prepare for PET Listening
- Read the instructions carefully before you start each section.
- Read the questions before you listen. You will hear the audio twice.
- Listen! The more English you listen to the better your will do. Listen to the radio, English language TV, podcasts...

PET Reading and Writing
- Online:
Time allowed - about 90 minutes
- Reading part 1: short texts
- Reading part 2: match 5 people to 8 texts

- Writing part 1: sentence transformations

Scoring
The Reading and Writing sections are each worth 25% of the total score for the exam.- Each of the 35 reading questions scores 1 mark.

How to prepare for PET for Schools Reading and Writing
- read the instructions carefully before you start each section
- think about the timing. Spend about 50 minutes on the reading, 40 minutes on the writing
- study these vocabulary topics
- study grammar at B1 level
- practise writing short texts, including emails

You will hear people talking in five different situations (In the exam there are seven). Choose the best answer A, B or C. You will hear the recording twice.
My advice:
- In Cambridge PET listening exams, usually all three options are mentioned in the exercises. Read the question carefully to avoid confusions.
- In some questions it is difficult to guess the correct answer. In this case, try to find out what the answer cannot be.
