- The visual effects are as artificial as the genially preposterous story, but the movie is all in fun, and painless for grownups.

Surely the silliest outing for Caine since he swatted rampaging killer bees in the 1978 disaster flick 'The Swarm.'- Offers giant rocks clearly made of Styrofoam and Dwayne Johnson, who fits the same description.
- I swear some of the giant, Day-Glo vegetation had 'Property of 'Lost in Space' stamped on it.
- The equivalent of those pre-made sandwiches you buy at Starbucks -- not bad for you, and not entirely lacking in flavor, but nothing particularly memorable, either.
- The equivalent of throwing 'Jurassic Park,' 'Avatar' and the absolute worst episode ever of 'Land of the Lost' in a blender and pushing 'garble.'
- The Mysterious Island is everything a 12-year-old boy could want - endless adventure involving a reckless adolescent hero, with a pretty girl in a clinging T-shirt around to watch him struggle.
- You know we're in serious trouble when even old pros such as Michael Caine and Luis Guzman can't do anything with the uninspired and unfunny script.
- Sincerely tries to pay homage to the likes of Jules Verne and Robert Louis Stevenson but is too contaminated by today's tame sensibilities to make it fly.
- A wretched shipwreck of a film that will appeal only to young minds of the most limited discernment and imagination.
- Journey 2: The Mysterious Island makes a nice case to your kids that reading books is a good idea.
- Don't expect anything resembling believability, but enjoy the blend of strikingly colorful visuals and banter between odd couple Johnson and Caine, which combine for a mild escapist treat.

A brainless 3-D sequel to 2008's brainless 3-D 'Journey to the Center of the Earth.'- The usual escape-before-the-big-blast stuff ensues, augmented by some fairly tedious family dynamics.
- The island locale rings with reggae music regardless of its proximity to Jamaica, and any action sequence is rendered in painfully deliberate slo-mo.
- Blithely idiotic...
- Even by the unambitious standards of some children's movies and many movies that star Caine, this one has a difficult time making a case for itself as anything other than an adventure in baby-sitting.
- Harkens back to so-bad-they're-fun '70s children's epics like 'At the Earth's Core' and 'The Land That Time Forgot.'
- ...the best that moviegoers who don't much enjoy genial sci-fi/fantasy silliness can expect is a relatively inoffensive time...
- Anyone old enough to have read Jules Verne or seen the way his work was successfully adapted in the past will suffer worse than the kids in the audience who just came to laugh.

Mysterious Journey II is a sci-fi game that is riddled with problems, and try as I might, I just couldn’t enjoy it. You awake from a 214-year cryogenic sleep on a deserted space station, only to be told that this slumber was your punishment for nearly destroying your homeworld. No time for guilt, though: you’re also notified that the station will soon crash into the planet. You play from a first-person perspective, but all of the story elements are spoon-fed to you via third-person cut-scenes. Annoyingly, the intriguing premise never manages to go anywhere meaningful or interesting.
As in love-it-or-hate-it adventure games like Myst, almost all the locales are devoid of, well, anyone, so it’s a journey many will spend feeling alone and without reason to push forward. Even worse are the ridiculously tough environmental puzzles. Unless you’re a member of MENSA, chances are you’ll need a walkthrough to finish the game. For example, one conundrum early on requires you to tinker with four obscure dials to unlock a doorway. To gauge your success, you must continuously travel to another part of the space station to look through a pane of glass to see the result of your actions. Sheer pain.
Puzzles get much more complicated and even more obscure throughout this 15-hour adventure, including the task of building multiple bridges on the planetary surface — it’s like the Rube Goldberg game. Puzzles in a good adventure such as The Longest Journey or Syberia help tell the story or add some dimension to the characters, and they aren’t absurdly grueling to solve.
